Join VarjeSteg on a running trip to the beautiful Gaustatoppen and discover the joy of running in the Norwegian mountain landscape with us. At 1889 meters above sea level in Eastern Norway lies the popular Gaustatoppen, where the magnificent panoramic view allows you to see a sixth of Norway’s mainland from the summit. Surrounded by exceptional nature and breathtaking views, you will learn about sustainable running technique and experience how enjoyable running can be.

Who is this trip for?

This trip is for those who enjoy running in nature. Whether you’re an experienced runner or not, you’re welcome to join. Focus will be on a relaxed pace and enjoyable running, with different groups adapted to various levels. Groups will be divided from a walk/jog group to running at different levels.

Schedule

  • Wednesday night – Group dinner
  • Thursday morning – Morning jog and the basics of gentle movement & running technique

  • Thursday afternoon – Short hike, or alternatively, a longer hike. Three-course dinner at Restaurant Blikk with a beautiful view of Gaustatoppen.

  • Friday morning – Walk/Jog to Gaustatoppen, with its magnificent panoramic view, it allows you to see a sixth of Norway’s mainland from the top. (You can choose to be outdoors for 1.5 to 4 hours with walking/jogging). You can also choose to take the lift to the top, either up or down (an additional fee of 355 NOK will apply).

  • Friday afternoon – Postural traning (Mobility for better posture) followed by the option to visit Rjukanbadet with a wellness section, warm water pool, hot tubs, sauna, etc. There is also an outdoor section if the weather is nice. (An additional 175 NOK applies).

  • Saturday full day  – Mountain peaks, a group dinner, and ending the evening by relaxing in a sauna raft with a view of Gaustatoppen!

  • Sunday morning – Postural traning (Mobility for better posture) & Return journey

The program is preliminary and may change depending on weather conditions. Participation in the program is optional, so if you’d rather go sightseeing or rest before the next session, that’s perfectly fine.

Coaches:

In addition to our trained running group leaders, the sessions and adventures will be led by Gunnar Skaven and Malena Storm Erdegard, who have excellent local knowledge of the area. They are highly regarded leaders in our running courses with extensive experience in leading training trips.

Accomodation:

We will be staying in the village of Rjukan, located in a valley below Gaustatoppen, in a cabin village with various options ranging from 2 to 5 beds per cabin. All cabins are equipped with a kitchen, shower, and WC. The location is central, with easy access to running in stunning nature.

 

Travel to and from:

A shared bus trip with space for 20 people departs from Gothenburg (Central Station) on Wednesday morning at 09:00, with the return journey on Sunday at 10:00. It is also possible to travel to the accommodation independently (choose this option in the registration form).

Meals:

Full board at various restaurants/catering, see the program above. Beverages with meals are not included.

 

Travel guarantee/insurance:

The trip is organized in collaboration with Langley Travels, who provides a travel guarantee to the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency (Kammarkollegiet) in accordance with the Package Travel Act. Please ensure that your home insurance covers overseas travel.

Registration

    • Price: From 8450 SEK  to 9450 SEK

The price includes round-trip bus travel, accommodation, full board, bus transfers to the different tours, tourist tax, a VarjeSteg cap, and all leader-led sessions.

Booking conditions: A deposit of 3000 SEK per traveler is required at the time of booking, with the final payment due no later than 60 days before the departure date. The trip can be canceled up to 61 days before departure (the booking fee is non-refundable). Cancellations after 61 days will receive a refund of everything except the booking fee.
