Chamonix in the summer is ideal for mountain hiking and trail running. Expect a week of running, great food, relaxation, and unforgettable natural experiences. Chamonix is a stunning and one-of-a-kind destination, offering awe-inspiring landscapes. With easy access to beautiful surroundings, you can enjoy sustainable hiking and running while taking in spectacular mountain views.

Who is this trip for?

This trip is for anyone curious about exploring exciting new places to run while enjoying breathtaking views. The program is suitable for those who prefer shorter walks or runs as well as longer ones. Groups are divided by activity level, ranging from a walk/jog group to running at various paces. Participation in the program is optional, so if you’d rather go sightseeing or shopping, that’s perfectly fine too!

Weather

The weather in June is perfect for running with a temperature around 16-18 degrees Celsius.

Food

The trip includes half-board, with breakfast and dinner. The cuisine is inspired by French and Swedish traditions and is, of course, prepared using the finest ingredients. To enhance the dining experience, a carefully curated wine list is available, featuring both local and international wines. To recharge for all the amazing runs, a fantastic three-course dinner is served every evening.

Lunch and beverages with meals are not included.

Tack alla för en fantastisk resa, så kul, och den innehöll ju så otroligt mycket! Träning, upplevelser av alla slag, skratt, kamratskap, fantastisk mat och charmigt hotel med perfekt läge... Dessutom, "läskiga" vilda djur, en och annan hyfsad sportbil, välbehövliga uppvärmningar, betagande vyer, sommar och vinter på samma gång, ett utmärkt sortiment av lokala drycker att botanisera i, tågresor, och visst var man väl taggad inför varje ny dags äventyr 🙂

Sitter på tåget mot Kalmar och glider sakta ur den underbara bubblan man befunnit sig i sedan förra lördagen, det är svårt att släppa taget. Coaches

In addition to our trained running group leaders, the training sessions and adventures will be led by running coach Nathalie Sandheden (founder of VarjeSteg & licensed physiotherapist) and leader Fredrik Larsson. Fredrik is a highly appreciated leader in our running courses, with extensive experience leading training trips and strong local knowledge of the area. He has also completed the renowned UTMB – Ultra Trail Mont Blanc race.

Accommodation

We will be staying centrally at the Langley Hotel Gustavia, which offers a pleasant mix of traditional alpine charm, high comfort, and modern elements. Built in 1890, the hotel is one of the most historic buildings in the valley and remains a popular meeting place for guests from all over the world.

The rooms are bright and comfortable, available in various sizes and standards. Many of the rooms offer a stunning view of Mont Blanc.

Program

  • Sunday (arrival day) – Run and a review of the basics of gentle movement and running technique, followed by a group dinner in the evening
  • Monday – Postural training (Mobility training/activation for better posture) and Running with a focus on sustainable running technique upphill
  • Tuesday – Trail run och running technique in trail
  • Wednesday – Long run, Le Brévent eller Lac Blanc – Several options with running or hiking/running.
  • Thursday – Rest day. If desired, you can join a guided train trip to Vallorcine, followed by a one-hour hike to Cascade de Berard in Le Buet, where you can visit a beautiful waterfall, have lunch, and explore caves.
  • Friday – Running towards Lac Sinclair, Accro’ Park des Gaillands, and the historic ruins of Ruiny Zamku Martineza DeZoo. Afternoon running strength session.
  • Saturday – Trail run, Plan de l’Aiguille. Closing dinner in the evening.
  • Sunday – Morning jog & Return trip

A more detailed program will be provided upon registration. Participation in the program is optional, so if you prefer sightseeing or shopping instead, that’s perfectly fine. There will also be different options for runs each day, with choices of running or hiking/running.

Travel guarantee/insurance

The trip is organized in collaboration with Langley Travels, who provides a travel guarantee to the Swedish Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency (Kammarkollegiet) in accordance with the Package Travel Act. Please ensure that your home insurance covers overseas travel.

Flight information

Flight from Gothenburg with a layover in Amsterdam, followed by a transfer to Chamonix.

  • Departure 29/6: Gothenburg 12:05 – Amsterdam 13:35, Amsterdam 15:00 – Geneve 16:30
  • Return trip 6/7: Geneve 17:15 – Amsterdam 18:55, Amsterdam 21:15 – Gothenburg 22:45

Registration

Price: 18 990 SEK

The price includes flights, hotel, half-board, tourist tax, a VarjeSteg cap, and all leader-led sessions.
